Design Guild Mark 2023
Drawing inspiration from Luis Barragàn’s pared-back aesthetic, the Syd Chair evokes the subtle balance of hard lines, weight and lightness characteristic of the celebrated Mexican architect’s work.
The Syd chair is of simple and archetypal construction, utilising white-oiled ash wood with a vegetable-tanned leather slung seat which will patina, age gracefully and get richer in colour over time. My objective as a designer, is to produce pieces that will improve with use, like a good pair of shoes where the marks bear a story.
